Laggan Forest Trust submits planning application for Forest Centre

Posted on

Laggan Forest Trust is delighted to announce that an application for planning permission has been submitted to Highland Council for the construction of a new Forest Centre here at Strathmashie by Laggan.

The centre at Laggan Wolftrax will include a bike shop, changing facilities, a cafe and seminar space.

LFT's Development Manager, Robin Jackson, said "LFT, along with our partners, recognise the considerable growth of the mountain-biking market and the potential for Laggan Wolftrax to build on this opportunity."

"The creation of the Forest Centre will draw more visitors to Laggan and create jobs providing services for them, thus generating many benefits for the local community and businesses, as well as the visitors who come to the area in their thousands each year."

The application has been called in by the Cairngorm National Park Authority and will be determined by their planning committee members.

The proposals are at their first stage with tenders to be released later in the year for construction of the centre, if it is given the green light, and the management of the cafe and bike shop.

Davy Campbell, chair of LFT, said "We look forward to continuing to work with the community and our partners to establish this exciting new Forest Centre at Laggan Wolftrax."
