Overnight camp and Laggan Forest Summer Club

Children (and big kids!) are invited to experience the magic of Strathmashie Forest by night, on an overnight survival skills course run by Laggan Forest Trust and Backcountry Survival.
Amy Styles, of Laggan Forest Trust, said “The first series of summer club days, which we ran in early July, were a really big success; the kids loved the shelter-building and foraging so much that they all said they wanted to stay overnight. We had already advertised the second half of the summer club from 12-15 August, but have now added an overnight stay on Monday 12th August.”
Neil Foote, of Backcountry Survival, added “Many of the kids who came to the club in July have booked onto the overnight stay as well as the day-time sessions in August, but we still have spaces if anyone else wants to come and join us.”
There is no minimum age for the overnight stay. Parents are welcome to accompany their children, but those who are happy and confident to come along on their own are very welcome. Staff at Laggan Forest Trust and Backcountry Survival have all been certified through the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) and Disclosure Scotland government scheme, and are expert in bushcraft.
Since there was too much fun to cram into two hour sessions in July, in August there will be extended 3 hour sessions. There will be morning and afternoon sessions (10am – 1pm and 2.00pm – 5.00pm) on Monday 12th, Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th August. The overnight session will take place from 6pm on Monday 12th, ending at 9.30am on Tuesday 13th. The instructors will then take a well-earned break, before starting the Tuesday session at 12pm so that the club can include foraging for and cooking lunch that day.
